This Spring Break, give your child an art experience they’ll remember! The morning schedule includes focused, larger-scale themed projects, while the afternoon schedule is more relaxed with 1-3 smaller projects and outdoor break time (weather permitting) spent at feature locations around The Forks within easy walking distance from the Johnston Terminal. Students who are booked for full days will have a 1 hour down time between morning and afternoon for lunch and relaxing.
Monster Monday – Our morning will feature a big and fun sculpture-based project, while the afternoon will focus on age-appropriate mythical monsters and our creative renderings of our own made-up monster.
Textile Tuesday – Starting off with tie-dye t-shirts, ending with kinusaiga (rigid Japanese fabric art), and bracelet making.
World Art Wednesday – Students will create a large-scale totem pole in the morning session and in the afternoon we will move to the southern hemisphere for Australian dot art and then the Middle East to learn about geometric patterns.
3D Thursday – Our morning starts off with a layered dioramic scene in a lighted shadow box with the afternoon projects including drawing techniques to create optical illusions and popup cards with moving pieces.
This camp, for kids age 6-11, can be booked for AM (9-12), PM (1-4) or Full Days (9-4). Students are asked to bring nut-free snacks and lunch, a water bottle, and weather appropriate clothing if attending the afternoon session.
