cARTizan studios is a child-centered studio that is all about teaching kids, youth and even (sometimes) adults to explore their creativity. We believe that creative children become innovate adults who are willing to explore and discover new things. The greatest minds all through history have been those who were able to think outside the box and whether in fields of science, math, business, medicine, or the arts, it is those with a willingness to explore beyond the average and acceptable who have the greatest impact.
cARTizan studios strives to develop that inquisitive mindset along with mad art skills in its students and for them to walk away with projects that they can feel proud of. Our courses offer age-appropriate, exciting projects that centre around a literacy, science-based or art history lesson. Our instructors all have experience working with children and all come with up to date Criminal Record as well as Vulnerable Persons checks.
For thousands of years people have gathered at the meeting point of the Red and Assiniboine Rivers. The Nakoda, the Anishinaabe, the Cree and the Sioux all met and lived at this intersection of history’s river highways. Nearly 300 years ago European fur traders first established a presence here, followed by early settlers hoping to eek out a livelihood on the unforgiving prairies. But eek it out they did, and eventually rail lines followed the ox carts and Winnipeg was established as a main trading center of the time. In 1938, the National Cartage Building was built, a place that we now know as the Johnston Terminal, the proud new home of cARTizan studios. Come experience a touch of history and create art with us on the main floor, just behind the center staircase.
