Plum Blossom Chinese Watercolour Workshop (May 18)

This May long weekend, discover the elegance and expressive beauty of traditional Chinese watercolour in this calming, technique-focused workshop. Rooted in centuries-old practices often referred to as ink wash painting, this class introduces you to the fundamentals of brush control, ink dilution, and the balance between spontaneity and purposeful intention.

Participants will explore the classic subjects of plum blossoms, birds, and structured, negative space while learning how to create depth, movement, and atmosphere using minimal strokes. You’ll be guided through essential techniques including tonal layering, dry vs. wet brushwork, and composition on rice paper.

This workshop is suitable for beginners as well as artists looking to expand their practice with new materials and styles. All supplies are provided—just bring your curiosity and a willingness to slow down and let the brush lead. Join us for this afternoon May 18 from 11:00am-1:00pm for this small, 6 person workshop.
